Dear Meadows Parents:

Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year at Madison Meadows. The parent-teacher organization at Meadows, Parents and Teachers at Meadows (P.T.M.), is one of the most involved and active organizations of its kind in Arizona. P.T.M. is extremely proud to boast twenty-four committees and forty-one chairmen planning and organizing the many wonderful enrichment programs from which our children will benefit.

P.T.M. meets monthly and the meeting dates are listed in the P.T.M. Directory. P.T.M. has a full calendar of events and activities throughout the school year. If you have not already done so, please review the committee structure listed in the P.T.M. Directory, and find areas that tap into your interests, talents, and schedule. The strength of our parent volunteer organization lies in its diverse and talented membership. It is our hope that you will work on one or more P.T.M. committees this year. We have a multitude of jobs that can be accomplished at various times of the day and week. P.T.M. extends well beyond the school day!

Sincerely,

Kelli Butler, P.T.M. President

Kelly Jackson, P.T.M. Vice-President Communications

PTM PRESS

Well… it happened! Another school year is a week away from completion! Where did the time go? It feels like it flew by, but when we start to think about how much our kids changed this year, the number of projects they completed, how much stronger they are academically, all the sports and activities they did in 9 months, it seems possible that, yes, another year has passed! When I think of all that PTM has accomplished this year and how many parents have volunteered in so many ways it seems that, yes, it is possible another year has passed!
Have you all seen the new trees in the back of the school and flowers by the front office? Many, many thanks to our 2007-2008 PTM President Nancy Schriber and our new PTM President, Kelli Butler for the flowers that they planted in the planters by the front office. Many thanks to Kelli Butler for coordinating the purchase and planting of the new trees. The tree wells required major repair of the drip system. Kelli and the landscaper did all the work on a weekend! They look awesome and were much needed! Thank to all our parents and staff who supported PTM’s fundraising efforts this year to make this purchase!
Teresa Abernethy is chairing our Registration and Orientation Day this year for all Meadows students. It will be held Thursday, July 31st from 7am to 7pm in the cafeteria. This is the day kids receive their schedules and homeroom class info, parents sign up to join our Parent and Teachers at Meadows group, purchase PE uniforms, pay ahead for cafeteria accounts, check the bus schedules and bus stops, fill out emergency cards and take a tour of the school to familiarize your child with where their classrooms are. It's about a 1/2 hour process at most. Please bring your checkbook! We are also in need of volunteers to help welcome everyone back and give a hand for 2 hour shifts.
For questions or to offer to help, please e-mail Annie at anniekassenbrock@cox.net or call her at (602)678- 1766.
Many thanks to Wendy Charles, of the Teacher Appreciation Committee, for organizing the luncheon for the staff and providing the delivery of all the food. Thanks to Kelli Butler, Kelly Jackson and Nancy Schriber for their assistance!
Ramm Round-up was help on May 8th. What an enthusiastic bunch of incoming 5th graders (and their parents!) we have! Many thanks to Joan Welty for organizing this worthwhile event! The incoming 5th graders learned about student opportunities at Meadows, ate pizza and played games. The parents learned about Meadows and had their questions answered by Mrs. Doyle and Mrs. Grosso. Thank you Mrs. Grosso for all your work! Thank you to all the 5th grade teachers, Mr. Voss, and Ms. Baco for helping with the event. Several students were also involved to make this event a success. They include NJHS students: Cameron Butler, Rivian Lewin, Luke Osselaer, Mark Schillinger, Kimberly Csantos, Katie Rottman, Lily Kravetz, Becky Friedman, Tori Schriber, Meghan Hatch, Nathan Solliday, Jacqueline Vercauteren, Victoria Mullan, and Ryan Gellar. A wonderful group of parent volunteers included: Kelli Butler, Val Rottman, Lisa Loy and Lori Vercauteren. Thank You!
Mr. Johnson would like to thank all students and parents for attending the science extravaganza, which was a great success. A special thanks to Jacquie Kurth and Kelli Butler, who rented tables, and purchased prizes, food and drinks for the Extravaganza. Other valuable volunteers included Mr. Wray, Mrs. Johnson, Ben Butler and Casey Kurth! Everyone’s extra effort made everything run extremely smooth. Mr. Johnson is looking forward to planning another Extravaganza next year!
Our Judges, Ernie Davis and Amy Ashline who judged our projects:
3rd place Jessica Fox: “Land and Marine Iguanas”
2nd place Lexie Brunelle and Adrienne Sacs: “Hot Air Balloons”
1st place Justine Ridley: “Plate Tectonics and Ocean Waves”

Many thanks to Mr. Johnson for all your time and effort to make this event possible!
Thank you to Jacquie Kurth for this distribution of the Med-O-Gram! Jacquie has agreed to continue this job next year!
Thanks!
There is an incredible group of boys and girls who have grown up before our very eyes and they are
now off to high school. We wish them much success! Cheers to you 8th Graders! Commencement
Chairs Marti Mehagian and Tammy Sommerville along with their committees have done a spectacular job!

Letter from the Nancy Schriber, 2007/2008 PTM President

It has been a wonderful year at Meadows and I would like to thank those of you who helped with any of our many PTM events. Whether you tabulated magazines, organized or attended an event, bought
magazines, cookie dough or a Harkins cup please know your help is appreciated by the children and staff at Madison Meadows. Our fundraising this year was very successful and through a series of smaller fundraisers we managed to raise enough money to replace 7 trees to spruce up the back campus. In the fall we plan to add some trees to the front of the school, benches, tables and a shade structure. The PTM will be working with the administration and staff at Meadows to identify capital projects that we can support over the next couple of years.

It has been a pleasure working with the Executive Board of the PTM, this group of women has worked
tirelessly to keep the traditions alive and well at Meadows. Special thanks to Kelli Butler, Kelly Jackson, Beth Hill, Wendy Charles, Marianne Friedman, Staci Bertenshaw and Rae Dewberry for always saying yes and always saying it with a smile. I would also like to thank all of the PTM Chairwomen this year who chaired committees and did so with great efficiency and positive attitudes. These amazing women include: Teresa Abernethy, Kat Magerkurth, Kendra Tollackson, Marti Mehagian, Tammy Sommerville, Amalia Gorraiz, Shannon Burke, Kari Blakely, Susan Solliday, Mari Moga, Peggy Osselaer, Sherri Kindall, Audrey Wolff, Jacquie Kurth, Stacey Parker, Lisa Gurule, Lisa Loy, Joan Welty, and Ann Whitten. Special thanks to Bonnie Rivera and Barb Cunningham who reinvented the snack shack at Meadows and created a wonderful place for families to hang out. Whether it was a Saturday morning cup of coffee and a breakfast burrito or a dinner of rice bowl, pizza, or hotdog, these ladies were always ready and waiting for us harried volleyball, basketball and softball parents. We are very lucky to have this dedicated team!

Two ladies have made the PTM's job infinitely easier: Annette Grosso and Diane Lynn. You will be missed by all the children and parents at Meadows and will always have a special place in the Meadows family. Finally I would like to thank Susan Doyle, Richard Wray and staff for supporting the PTM in all our efforts. I wish all of you a happy, relaxing and safe summer!
Sincerely,
Nancy Schriber

Thank you, Nancy Schriber for all your hard work this year as PTM President! We appreciate all the time and effort you gave to the Meadows community! We thank our retiring staff, Mr. Wray, our Assistant Vice- Principal and Mrs. Miller, 7th grade math teacher. We will miss you and wish you the best in your future endeavors. And finally, I couldn’t have done my job on the Med-O-Gram without the help and assistance of Diane Lynn and Annette Grosso. We wish you the best in your retirement!
Have a wonderful summer! See you in August!
