Word for the month of May: HONESTY

Mr. Richard Wray, Assistant Principal

From the office of the Assistant Principal

Dear Meadows Families:
With AIMS testing completed, we thank you for the support and encouragement getting your son or daughter to school on time every day. It was essential that we test every student!
As I reviewed the attendance log for both absences and tardies from Monday, April 14th, we have
returned to our normal 30+ absences and 20+ tardies. What a shame! It is my belief that if students
can get up early and make it to school when we stress testing and its importance, we can continue
the same time management the rest of the year as school is just as important as testing.
Somewhere way back when, my mother drilled into my head that early is good! She would say,
“ always be to school or a meeting first and sit in the front row”….”teachers give A’s to those that sit up front.” I am not sure that proved to be accurate but I did make it a habit to sit up front.
The type of time management a student develops in middle school will either make or break them in
high school, college or a career. It sure would be nice to return to 98-99% attendance the rest of the school year as we experienced during testing.
As I count 50 names on either absence or tardy sheet this morning, it’s time to be accountable. Parents, please partner with us and get our students in the classroom by 8:00 am sharp.

Mr. Richard Wray

MISSION STATEMENT:

Madison Meadows' staff, parents, and community expect our students to achieve the highest levels of academic performance consistent with their abilities, and we accept responsibility for creating an environment which will allow this to happen.

* Goal I The Meadows Community will strive to ensure a safe, orderly, and purposeful climate directed towards teaching and learning.

* Goal II The Meadows Community will promote high academic achievement for all students.

* Goal III The Meadows Community will work to increase communication and cooperation.

ABSENCES:

Madison Meadows School asks that parents or guardians call the school attendance clerk, Mrs. Giny Peoples, prior to 8:30 a.m. each day that a student is absent. The school does not condone absences for reasons other than illness, religious reasons, medical appointment(s), or bereavement. If the school has not been notified of an absence, upon return to school, a note from a parent/guardian or physician is required explaining the absence. Unexcused absences will result in a detention. Students with excessive, excused absences may be asked to bring a doctor's excuse for absences, or will be referred to the City of Phoenix AIM (Attendance is Mandatory) program. .

Officer Trejo’s SRO Corner

Hello Meadows Community,
I would like to inform our community about a couple of web-sites that can answer many of your questions pertaining to the law. First is LawForKids.org and it is an educational resource made
especially to answer kid’s questions about the law. It is a great way to explain Arizona laws and to help educate students about decisions they make.

Next is AZFLSE.org a nonprofit organization providing funds to programs that improve the delivery of legal services and expand the understanding of the law. Kids can sit down with their parents and find out answers to their questions together as both of these websites are full of information. Every
day kids face the reality that they have the opportunity to break the law and some don’t even know it.

It is very important that kids understand what the law means for them and they will be held responsible for the decisions they make. Remember parents, communication and involvement in your child’s life is very important. How you communicate and interact with your children will set the
tone for their behavior in our society. Give them the proper foundation so they will grow up to be productive adults in our community. I encourage parents to get involved in their lives and to know who their friends are.

Talk about Drugs and Alcohol and your expectations about these topics. If you have any questions regarding the law or any of the information contained herein, feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Officer Patrick Trejo

Meadows Cafeteria News****

Attention Parents: We need your help
.
The cafeteria is having problems collecting lunch monies owed by our students. Students should not be running their lunch accounts in the negative. It is very important to keep your child’s account current with enough money to allow them to eat lunch and breakfast if they need to. The cafeteria sends negative balance letters home twice a week but we still have parents not sending this money owed to us to school with their child. Having a nutritious meal everyday is so important for their growth, being fit and studying.
Please help us by sending or bringing in money for their account. You can contact us at 602-664-7697 with any questions or concerns.
Thank you, Your Meadows Cafeteria Staff
