The focus in Meadows' physical education program is on introducing sports' skills and basic game play for all major sports. Cooperative skills, sportsmanship and teamwork are also emphasized. Each lesson is comprised so that motor skills as well as cognitive skills are enhanced. Becoming a life long learner in physical education is our main goal. The students focus on skill development with activities in partnerships and in games with small groups that allow everyone to participate. Skill development is measured through continued observation. It is an important department objective to allow every student to develop at his or her own pace. We encourage each individual to achieve at his/her own potential. The department stresses non-competitive behavior and sportsmanship throughout skill development. Encouragement and support among the students is a priority throughout the curriculum. Sportsmanship is also an integral part of the P.E. curriculum. With the ability to work with each other, students can have an excellent experience in class.
