NEW ART ROOM FACILITY

Students will have a state-of-the art facility in a new location on the Madison Meadows campus in August, 2008. The Art Building is in the center of the campus next to the school office and the Library Media Center. This ideal location allows all students to easily arrive on time for class because of its convenient location. Hopefully, many of the art pieces will be displayed in the front office and also in the Library Media Center.

Open Art Room

Beginning on Thursday, October 4, 2008, the art building will be open after school (3-4 pm) for students that would like to work on extracurricular projects or experiment with other media that they may not work with during the year. The only prerequisite for participating is to bring a signed note at least one day in advance indicating how the student will be transported home (e.g. parent pick up, walk or bike ride). If there are any questions, please email Mr. Voss at svoss@msd38.org. I apologize for the change from Tuesdays to Thursdays; however, it conflicted with future meetings concerning National Board Certification. If all goes well, there will be an open art room throughout the year with other days being added as the year progresses.

Multi-Media Art Class

This art course gives 7/8 students an extended opportunity to further develop their artistic skills using a multimedia approach throughout the school year. A variety of art media projects are created-including techniques in drawing, colored pencil, ink, clay, acrylic and watercolor paints, paper, fibers, and special materials. Extended ceramics work is emphasized and students practice to develop the skills of throwing pots on the potter's wheels.

6th Grade Art

Sixth grade art students have the opportunity to explore many areas in art - using pencil, colored pencil, tempera, paints, watercolor and acrylic paints, ceramic glaze paints, fibers, paper art, and special materials. Sixth grade students' art education includes the areas of creative expression, art techniques, art history, current events, and art critiquing.

5th Grade Art

Fifth grade art students have the opportunity to explore many art approaches- using pencil, colored pencil, color mixing with tempera paints, watercolor and acrylic paints, clay, glaze paints, fibers, paper art, and special materials. Fifth grade students' art education covers a multi-media approach to introduce students to many different art mediums. They include creative hands-on expression, art techniques, current events, art history, and simple art critiquing.
